Remote Therapeutic Monitoring includes six CPT codes covering device supply, setup, and treatment management. Here's what each code covers.
Billed once per episode of care. Covers the supply of an RTM device and initial setup, including patient education on use. This is the entry point code for RTM services.
Billed every 30 days. Covers the ongoing supply of an RTM device that collects at least one physiologic or non-physiologic data parameter per day. Requires at least 16 days of data per 30-day period.
Billed once per episode of care. Covers the initial 20 minutes of treatment management services per calendar month, including review of RTM data, interpretation, and adjustment of the treatment plan.
Billed once per episode of care. Covers a re-evaluation of the treatment plan, requiring 20 minutes of management time. Used when there is a new treatment plan or significant change.
Billed per 20-minute increment beyond the initial 20 minutes. Each additional 20 minutes of treatment management per calendar month.
Billed per additional 20-minute increment beyond the first additional 20 minutes (98980). Used when management time exceeds 40 minutes in a calendar month.
